The new school building is designed with a two-story volume to complement the adjacent swimming pool, ensuring it doesn't exceed the pool's height. The main, south-facing facade is carefully articulated to avoid overshadowing the pool, giving both buildings equal prominence in form and mass. The visually segmented second floor of the school building mirrors the stepped terraces of the pool, fostering a cohesive and inviting representative courtyard. Concrete paver pathways, bordered by lawns and landscaping, lead to the main entrances. A cantilevered volume, supported by sculptural columns, further enhances the entrance, highlighting the school and kindergarten entries and serving an informational purpose. The building's varied heights create an internal school courtyard, offering views from both the school and kindergarten corridors. Within this courtyard, the prominent assembly hall facade and its adjoining terrace stand out, providing an extended space for school events.
The Mastaičiai school, along with the schools in Zapyškis and Kačerginė, stands out due to its innovative financing principle: Public-Private Partnership (PPP). PPPs are legally defined collaborations between state or municipal authorities and private entities. These partnerships enable public authorities to delegate their activities to a private body, which, in turn, invests in the necessary assets and infrastructure to carry out these activities and receives legally established remuneration. The Kačerginė, Zapyškis, and Mastaičiai school projects were among the pioneering PPP initiatives in Lithuania and have also received recognition from the UNECE.
