Furniture manufacturer Narbutas is undertaking a major expansion of its production facilities in Ukmergė, Lithuania, significantly enhancing its operational capacity and architectural presence. The project spans approximately 90,000 m², combining manufacturing spaces, administrative offices, and a dedicated showroom designed to strengthen the company's brand and client experience.
A centerpiece of the development is the new administrative and showroom building, strategically placed at the heart of the site. This structure physically and visually links the existing and newly developed production halls, creating a cohesive industrial campus. More than a functional connector, the building establishes a bold new architectural identity for the entire complex, presenting a strong and welcoming "face" to the surrounding urban environment.
Reflecting Narbutas' commitment to sustainability and innovation, the showroom and administrative spaces are constructed using glued laminated timber, a material choice that highlights environmentally responsible practices. Large transparent surfaces and light-filled interiors emphasize openness, collaboration, and a modern working culture.
With an investment of around €170 million, the expansion will double Narbutas’ production capacity and create approximately 300 new jobs, reinforcing Ukmergė’s role in Lithuania’s growing industrial economy. This development marks a strategic evolution for Narbutas — merging operational growth with a visionary approach to architecture and environmental stewardship.

Connecting Volumes, Growing Green, Shaping Identity

The project establishes a clear architectural and functional link between the existing and newly developed factory buildings. This connection not only improves internal circulation and logistics but also strengthens the overall unity of the production campus.

A landscaped green corridor is introduced between the building volumes, serving both ecological and social functions. This green spine softens the industrial environment, enhances the quality of the outdoor spaces, and offers employees opportunities for recreation and relaxation.

The administrative and showroom building is strategically designed to create a distinctive visual identity for the Narbutas campus. It acts as the "face" of the factory, visible from key access roads, giving the complex a strong, contemporary, and memorable architectural presence.
